In June I was asked if I’d be able to put together a small solo show for July, short notice but an unmissable opportunity so I got going. Mainly quotes from friends and celebrities. (Flygande bäckasiner is the standard swedish pangram)

The workshop pulled through! Four days filled with conversations around type and design, delicious meals and lots of printing. We tried out a creative writing exercise to generate content and built on that. The texts are partly poetic but mainly non-sensical. The finished product a pamphlet that opens to a poster, or as Claudio described it: the travel poster. It was a nice project to be part of and I am grateful to everyone that helped make it possible!

Open call: Workshop coming up!

Into the wild

Into the wild
16–21 August 2017

Five days letterpress workshop on the Åland Islands in the Baltic sea.
Run by Edward Johansson of Ahvaland Press (FI) and Claudio Madella of Officina Tipografica Novepunti (IT)

Five days of letterpress printing in one of the most remote printshops in Europe.
A group of six people will concept, set up, print and bind a book with a set theme.
The process will involve a collaborative approach to find concept and determine a format.

The project will be realised through hand set type (wood- and/or lead) as well as hand carving linoleum. We will be printing on either a Vandercook proofing press or a Heidelberg Windmill, depending which is more suitable for the outcome.

Each participant leaves with six copies of the book and other prints.
Workshop will be held in English.

Fee: € 400 person
Includes: transfer from ferry terminal on Åland, accommodation, most meals (not if we eat out), workshop fee and materials.

By Land and At Sea

Architectural tour for the Bachelor students of Architecture at the University of Liechtenstein. Organised together with Annett Höland and included architectural visits in Stockholm, printing on Åland and more architecture in Helsinki.

From the Itinerary…
× Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and largest city in Scandinavia. Stockholm blends the sophistication of the city with the peace
and beauty of the countryside.

× Åland, situated between Finland and Sweden the Åland Islands are an extreme contrast to any major city. Belonging to Finland but having a predominantly Swedish culture makes Åland quite distinctive with an interesting mix of ideals.

× Helsinki, another nordic capital but noticeably different from the other Scandinavian capitals due to its proximity to Russia, as well as a national idiosyncrasy that comes from living on the edge of Europe.
